two great ballasts in one when you order this Ballast assembly. By using the
Lamp Selector Switch (LSS) you will be able to toggle from MH to HPS and from
HPS to MH to achieve the full growing spectrum. (When you do, please be sure to
change lamps to match your HPS or MH selection.)

The entire system is heavy duty to resist damage. This system is designed for

Reflector
The reflector is made of a 95% reflective aluminum with a heavy duty reinforced spine for direct or chain mounting. The reflector is designed to produce a direct light.
The dimensions are approximately 16 inches long 19 inches wide and 10 inches deep.
The horizontal shaped reflector allows for a wide reflection of light to the plants and good downward reflection.
The reflector has 4 individual bends for ultra even light distribution without hot spots!
This is a reflector only therefore you cannot add glass, fans or fittings.
This is a great reflector option if no additional accessories are needed.

Ballast
The
quieter noise reduced, industrial grade ballast is long lasting and trouble
free. The
cooler running extruded aluminum housing is designed to dissipate heat at an
improved rate. Compare to sheet metal housings that get very hot to the touch
and trap heat around the ballast that cause internal component failure. It is
quieter, noise reduced ballast.
The ballast utilizes a high tech heat sink, which doubles as the component
enclosure housing. It is ETL listed for safe operation, rated for damp location,
comes with a 6-foot power cord and has a 10-foot lamp cord. The heat-sink case
or housing that holds the components is made from extruded aluminum. In the
extrusion process fins are made. These fins help to transfer the heat from the
transformer to the air without the need for air vents. You will find fins like
these on high quality stereo gear and used there for the same purpose. You
should also note that these ballasts have not been painted. The painting of the
heat sink case or housing inhibits the heat transfer process dramatically. Other
manufactures that paint their air vent free ballasts for cosmetic reasons run
the risks of baking the components. Electrical components work better when they
run cool. We will never paint our ballasts. Six feet of heavy-duty power cord
and 10 feet of heavy-duty lamp cord are standard. The lamp cord comes complete
with a mogul socket and assembly to attach to all reflectors. The socket is
rated at 5kv and is universal.

cord is designed to fit on any hood system. It is a versatile unit that gives
you the freedom to remove the socket assembly and install on any reflector or
hood if needed.

Shipping and Handling is calculated using standard UPS rates plus a small

Packaging: In an effort to keep costs down, our packaging does not have
any labels or retail characteristics. Our UPS boxes are also free of any
markings and labels so we can pass along our packaging cost savings to our
customers.
Other Information: The Metal Halide
bulb has a strong blue spectrum, which promotes short stocky vegetative growth.
The High Pressure Sodium bulb has a strong red spectrum, which promotes fruiting
and flowering and increases production and yield.
High Pressure Sodium lamps are used in greenhouses to
elevate the red, orange and yellow electromagnetic wavelengths hitting the
plant. This (along with shorter photo-periods) signals the plant to start
producing bloom hormones. Increased red, orange and yellow wavelengths can
produce higher yields and more abundant blooms and fruiting sites when quality
plant foods and bloom leaf sprays are used. Indoor gardeners, lacking the Sun,
may find that HPS lamps do not supply the necessary amount of blue light to keep
plants healthy. Blue light drives photosynthesis, translocates sugars and keeps
the immune system working properly. Those growing areas using HPS lamps
exclusively in the bloom stages of growth may experience adverse vertical
stretching and blooms located only at the top of the plant. It is suggested to
burn a Metal Halide lamp along side of the HPS lamp to increase sugar production
and horizontal growth. Increased insect attack in the final stages of HPS only
bloom growth may also be experienced.
Hortilux HPS 1000 watt lamp option available. The Hortilux lamp provide
optimum spectral energy levels that promote vigorous plant growth. It provides
up to 17% more available energy for plant growth than the standard high pressure
sodium lamp. This lamp burns at 145,000 lumens compared to 140,000 lumens with a
standard 1000 watt HPS bulb.
